Happy Healthy Halloween!

Everyone will be in the Halloween spirit tomorrow, and kids will be excited for the festivities to begin.  Ensuring we are serving a healthy breakfast to school aged children is important every day,  but it’s especially important as a healthy start to their day on Halloween.  As always, we encourage all of our Kids Eat Smart Clubs to serve fruit or vegetables daily.  As veggies are not so common for breakfast, why not try this festive Halloween veggie platter tomorrow morning at your KES Club?  Making platters in fun shapes is always an easy and fun way to get kids excited about healthy eating.

Pumpkin Veggie Tray

Ingredients

  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Peppers (Green & Orange)
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Blackberries
  • Ranch dressing or Guacamole for dipping

Directions

Slice peppers for eyes and mouth. Place orange pepper for eyes and green pepper for mouth. Place blackberries and cherry tomatoes for eyes. Place broccoli in green pepper for mouth. Place carrots in shape of pumpkin on platter. Place cherry tomato for nose and green peppers for eye brows. Have a bowl of ranch dipping sauce or guacamole for dipping.
