This is Kids Eat Smart Foundation’s signature fundraising event for the year, raising much needed funds for the organization through a live and silent auction, games and local entertainment for guests. Each fall the event takes on a different theme, creating an entirely different evening for guests every year. Kids Eat Smart Foundation Gala 2010 Page The Walk sees schools, volunteers, staff and kids raise money by walking in aid of Kids Eat Smart Foundation one day during Kids Eat Smart Week. Kids Eat Smart Week falls in the month of October. It gives the Foundation an opportunity to highlight the messages of good nutrition practices and the importance of health and wellness in Newfoundland and Labrador’s youth. Various activities are created for KES Week by staff to get schools and the public involved in their cause. March is Nutrition Month and to celebrate this healthy time Kids Eat Smart Clubs have the option to register for Apple Day. On Apple Day Clubs are encouraged to serve different varieties of apples in creative ways such as apple yogurt parfaits and apple cinnamon pancakes or muffins. These Clubs also receive Apple Day Prize Packs that include such items as t-shirts, stickers, and apple stress balls. |
